From this era the balls of choice were the world famous Super Crystalate Snooker balls.
These ball sets were used in their day in all the worlds major snooker finals. They are a very hard resin ball and slightly heavier than more modern balls. Same size at 52mm (2 1/16 th inch), deeper lustrous colours than the Aramith sets and still often preferred by the stalwart snooker traditionalists.
These are available in very limited supply so get them while you can and save them as an appreciating asset.
Super Crystalate is a brand name for a composition material, a cast rather than moulded resin, first produced by Composition Billiard Ball in 1972 as a replacement for Crystalate.
Super Crystalate is no longer manufactured but it continues as a trade name on the Aramith Super Crystalate snooker ball sets that are made from phenolic resin.
